Character Morphology

Characters built around a counter-clockwise head loop — the most common structural element in Thai script.

Characters with an inward hook or notch at the top, often confused with each other by new learners.

Characters with ascenders — a vertical stroke that rises above the normal consonant height.

Characters with descenders — a stroke that dips below the baseline, usually Indic-derived.
